Chrysler is offering to subsidize the cost of gasoline for car and truck buyers, but its biggest rivals "? General Motors, Toyota and Ford "? said Tuesday they have no plans to match it.

The Auburn Hills-based maker of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles on Monday night announced an offer that caps the price of gasoline at $2.99 a gallon for three years for people who buy or lease new vehicles from Wednesday through June 2. The offer covers most of its models and is based on 12,000 miles of driving per year and the vehicle's government fuel economy rating.

As crappy mileage as Chrysler vehicles get (esp. the trucks) and the 12K mileage cap you would still be better off with another make.

America likes bigger. Chrysler had the most fuel eff cars in the country after the "gas guzzler" laws were passed. Then when time came for the taxes to be placed the president, at the time folded. Cost Chrysler a bundle, cost the country even more -easy to see in hindsight, isn't ti?

I can't really say that for our 2 Chryslers. They are average on MPG.

i'd say gas will be $7.00 a gallon by 2010, so i'd say the last year of this deal will break them
